In my nation every day
People kill their children
As sacrifices
For prosperity
For male children
For revenge
For salvation
The newspapers love a good story
The city dwellers love to shake their heads
At the illiterate backward masses
Who do such preposterous things
Sometimes
There is a moment of unrest inside
Shared hurt springs a desire
To reach out
To change
But will they change?
Wont things change anyway
The nation is progressing
The economy is boming
So much prosperity all around
Wont it catch up with them?
In my nations everyday
Children are killed
By debt’s
By social rules
By illiteracy
By the TV
By absent parents
Misery influences it’s watchers
Like a heroe’s candour
In a movie’s final moments
Even if only for a passing moment
Fortunately
I am well insulated
I can choose where to look
What to listen to
It’s my life
I wanna have fun
That does not make me bad, does it?
In my country
So many die everyday
Different places, races
And choices
But the same cause.
