The web today is awash with blogging advice. New blogs on how to blog are popping up like mushrooms after rains. Unfortunately the majority of good and quality blogs on blogging are written by full time bloggers. Finding articles that identify and address the problems unique to part time bloggers and non professional bloggers are hard to find. While I agree that a lot of advice given by thm is applicable to all bloggers, giving good advice needs an inside perspective, which unfortunately many of them lack.
I wish to point out just one of the big difference and tips to tackle that.

Time.
Time is what the problogger has and the 42 hr weeker doesn’t have. So how does someone like me, with horrible working hours blog effectively?
1. Set Goals
Headless chicken don’t win marathons. Without at least a broad overview of what you want to achieve and a time scale, you wont be doing much I assure you. I do not wish to elaborate because enough has been said already.
2. Prioritize
If you don’t know which way is up you cannot be a rocket scientist. It is impossible for a part time blogger to finish all his net activity in one setting and everyday, so make a list of things you need to do or commonly do on the net, then prioritize this list, What do you need to do everyday? What can be done on weekends or on alternate days etc?
3. Segregate
He who has wife and mistress in same building will soon have neither. Some vital stuff simply does not mix, for example checking email and writing a post for you blog. Do not work simultaneously on two equally attention needing activities. Separate the big clashers; maybe you should rise an hour earlier than usual and check mail. Or decide you will check mail in the night and write in the morning.
4. Ritualize
Washing hands is not rocket science but it saves lives. Rocket science does not. Once you are past the above exercises you will realize that for smoother working, a predictable and somewhat regular patterns of things is very helpful, so make them actively. Do your link gathering after your carnival hunting, or something. One thing you can do is just before you get online, jot down what you want to do in the order you want to do on a post-it and stick it on the monitor.
5. Delegate/ Automate
If it’s so simple that your gramma can do it, make her. Is there something you are wasting time on that can be done by someone else? My dad does the web mastering and blog maintenance for me. If you ask and look, believe me, there are people who will to help you. Don’t limit this to people, use internet services, plug-ins etc to automate. If you have five posts written, use the timestamp/publishing queue of your software to automate posting. Use a widget like delicious to put up daily links on your blog (like I do).
Finally, Next friday, the 31st of august I will be Putting up a list of posts relevent to part time bloggers, if you have something relevent drop me a line at
Ok noobies, get going already.
Ciao
Schizo
