As an adult when exposed to the “real” world we do not see the truth and justice that childhood dreams, sunday school and bedtime stories promised. Instead we are assailed by disorder, suffering and frank injustice from all directions. In the face of this startling and unexpected realization, we changes in the fundamental presuppositions we hold.
One of the commonest changes that come over us as we step our from our homes into big educational institutions or workplaces is developing cynicism. A cynic is some one who does not believe in ultimate justice of the world and rejects the “good will win in the end” principle that practically every religion teaches. I think its a rather straightforward belief to hold or conclusion to come to, in the light of what is said earlier.
What do you say?
