Blog To Liberate India — I

There are many Indian as well as non Indians bloggers who know for sure that among the 1200 million Indians there are untold millions that need to liberated. Liberated from ignorance, superstition, poverty, wrong practices, habits that spread infection, and even from plain ignorance of the basics of life. Thus these bloggers might be excited to think that a Blog has come up with the aim of liberation. No, not at all!!

On the contrary, the title actually means that “You should Blog so as to liberate India”. Oh my, you may say that it is the young, educated, and upwardly mobile people of India and outside who Blog and who read Blogs. You may also say that by virtue of their education and upward mobility (whatever that might be), they are already liberated. I will not challenge this questionable premise in this article, but wish to draw your attention that the young, educated, and upwardly mobile Bloggers of the world — and specially of India — do have it in their power to liberate India. To be modest, I can rephrase and say that this group has the power to play a substantial role in the process of liberation.

Some might resent. They might maintain that the educated are already liberated. While that statement seems true to the level of an unquestionable axiom, it need not be an axiomatic truth. What is more, even axioms are to be assessed repeatedly to see if any unproven hypothesis has been masquerading as established axiom. The following leading questions can perhaps throw some light:

  • Are all educated Indians free from superstition
  • Are all educated Indians compassionate to the underdogs
  • Are all educated Indians free from ethical corruption
  • Are all educated Indians free from financial corruption

Several seemingly secondary questions can be added to enhance the process of discovery. For example,

  • Do all educated Indians spend time in a profitable manner
  • Are educated Indians reasonably free from exaggerated fantasies
  • Are educated Indians reasonable free from manipulation by the media

Though these questions can apply to people worldwide, my first burden is India my Motherland. It has been plundered, ravaged, and raped by greedy invaders for the last two millennia. Then we became free in 1947. But free for what? Has freedom brought commensurate liberation? Liberation of the masses or of the elite. Or do we continue to be exploited and plundered.

Think it over. And also see if Blogging can in some way remedy the situation. I say yes it can. Send me your comments and questions if possible before I pen the third article in this series, so I might incorporate your suggestions into these articles.

    :) Good thoughts.

The current way of educating has to undergo a radical change. We need more of people who think and use themselves to their maximum potential.

Blogs will definitely help in bringing out into the open more voices from different parts of India. More information is garnered.

Of late, Kiruba, a blogger started a website which provides rooms to ‘bloggers’ who travel to different places.

A lot many initiatives are taking place. People are able to find common identities and work together as a group, etc.

Thanks Alex for your feedback. Bloggers can do a lot to change a lot things — only if they would focus more on others than on themselves in their Blogs

  3. Yes, but it depends on the blogger. For some it is a way to portray their lives, for some a platform to meet people, for others a place to discuss and debate on contemporary issues, etc.

Anything and everything could be blogged about.

You are right Alex. Out of this large group of bloggers if I can motive a few, it would definitely start a chain reaction. All revolutions start with the first idea planted in a few fertile minds.

Interesting write-up. I would also suggest that you participate in yahoo Q&A. There you will get more exposure and you can display their questions on your blog/website.
I have tried to answer some of the questions you have raised in that forum.

As for educated Indians, the moot question is- are Indians being correctly educated- Make your passion your profession

Thank you very much Hiren for your post. I am sure the info you gave will open up new doors for me to make this info available to a wider group of people.

Would you kindly give me a URL or two of yahoo Q&A where such questions are handled. Once I get a tip, I will go the whole length
