Of all the “spiritually enriching” topics to be talked about, the latest one in the god-blogsphere appears to be a discussion on John Piper’s use of “foul language”. He said something about god kicking our butts. Duh. I cannot agree more with Dan who says we miss the point entirely
This is the kind of Evangelical rathole that makes Christians the laughingstock of the world. We’re not seen as a joke because we follow a risen Christ, but because we’re so obsessed with filtering out gnats while gorging on camels. When the lost can see it and we can’t, does that honor God at all?
I desist from saying more go read.
Jim martin as usual comes up with a Good post on blessing our children, useful not just for parents but for anyone who can read.
Take every opportunity to remind them of who they are in Christ. They will, most likely, receive many false messages about their identity. They will be told that their worth is based upon their academic record, their physical attractiveness, their charm, their ability to make money, etc. You bless your children when you help them grow up with a sense of their real identity.
Allan R. Bevere talks about silence. Pardon the pun.
There are times when silence is loud; and in some of those moments, silence is deafening because it is profound

Careless Christians of every generation end up making a donkey (and what not) of everyone in the Christian community.
Picking up the language of a writer, while ignoring serious problems within the church, is a good example of this kind of stupidity.
