Jesus Christ, Paradox

June 7th, 2006 · 1 Comment · Prayers, Theology, Worship

The two songs below are some of my favourite ever songs and definitely the some of the best ones depicting the deity of Christ and the paradox of it, leading us to wonder and worship.

Meekness and majesty, manhood and deity,
In perfect harmony - the man who is God;
Lord of eternity, dwells in humanity,
Kneels in humility, and washes our feet.

Oh, what a mystery -
Meekness and majesty;
Bow down and worship,
For this is your God,
This is your God!

Father's pure radiance, perfect in innocence,
Yet learns obedience to death on a cross;
Suffering to give us life,
Conquering through sacrifice -
And as they crucify, prays, 'Father, forgive.'

Wisdom unsearchable, God the invisible,Love indestructible in frailty appears;
Lord of infinity, stooping so tenderly
Lifts our humanity
To the heights of his throne.

He spoke the Incarnation
And then so was born the Son
His Final Word was Jesus
He needed no other one
Spoke flesh and blood so He could bleed
And make a way divine
And so was born the baby
Who would die to make it mine

And so the Father's fondest thought
Took on flesh and bone
He spoke the living luminous Word
At once His will was done
And so the transformation
That in man had been unheard
Took place in God the Father
As He spoke that final Word

Chorus

And so the Light became alive and manna became Man
Eternity stepped into time so we could understand

And so my heart is lifted up to you O king, born in a smelly stable, welcomed into the world by cows, goats and shepherds. To the one who created the earth with just a word yet crafted tables doors with his own hands. To the one who was life, yet died to make me alive. To the one who cannot stand sin yet told the Samaritan woman to tell her 5 husbands about him. To the sovereign who obeyed. To Jesus my saviour, Majesty, crucified like a thief. To the one who rose up and lives to intercede for those who spat on him.

I wish I could join the crowd and sing " I love you LORD", because I cannot ever thank you enough for you.

My lips are willing but my heart does not follow.

But I still can come into your presence, just as I am, poor, wretched, blind and rejoice that ALL my sins are nailed to the cross. Knowing that in your presence there is purification, sanctification, knowing that I am always welcome.

Thank you Lord.
